These Terms govern your use of geojason.com ("the Site") and everything on it. Using the Site means you accept them. If you do not, do not use the Site.
What the Site provides
Free, browser-based tools for working with GeoJSON data, and reference material about the format. All processing happens in your browser. The Site is provided at no charge and may change or stop at any time.
Acceptable use
Use the Site lawfully. Do not:
- Use it in a way that breaks any applicable local, state, national or international law
- Interfere with, compromise or disrupt the Site or the services it depends on
- Crawl or automate access in a way that places a disproportionate load on the Site or on the map tile services it uses
- Reproduce, redistribute or resell the Site's written content without permission. This does not apply to the datasets, which are published under an open licence and are covered below
- Process data you do not have the right to process
Your data
Files you paste, open or create with the tools are processed entirely in your browser and are never transmitted to the Site. We do not collect, store, access or have any means of recovering them. You are responsible for the data you process and for holding the rights to it. The privacy policy covers what the third-party services on the Site do receive.
Intellectual property
The Site's design, code and written content are the property of GeoJason and are protected by copyright. Output you generate with the tools, such as converted files and calculated results, belongs to you and carries no claim from us. The open-source libraries the Site uses, including Turf.js, Leaflet and togeojson, are governed by their own licences.
The published datasets are the exception, deliberately. The conformance matrix, the corpus manifest, the GeoJSON JSON Schema and the token cost measurements, all listed on the datasets page and served from /data, are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. You may copy, adapt and redistribute them, including commercially, provided you credit the source. Where that licence and the acceptable use section above disagree, the licence governs the datasets.
No warranty
The Site and its tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted or error-free, nor that any result it produces is accurate or complete.
Verify any output independently before relying on it in production systems, legal documents, navigation, surveying, emergency planning, or anywhere else an error would matter. Known limitations are listed on the about page and corrections are recorded on the corrections page.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, GeoJason is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site. This includes data loss, lost profits and errors in tool output.
Third-party services
The Site loads Google AdSense for advertising, Google Analytics for usage measurement and OpenStreetMap for map tiles. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.
Changes to these terms
These Terms may be modified at any time. Changes are posted on this page with a new effective date, and continuing to use the Site after that date means you accept them.
Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or from your use of the Site shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
